Twenty-one Students Earn AP Scholar Awards

According to their press release, "The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 22 percent of the 2.2 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.

Eleven CCA students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. From the class of 2013, our AP Scholars are Ziwei (“Ashley”) Gu (Boston University), Che (“Seven”) Liu (Boston University), Sage Ingram (Pennsylvania State University), Meghan McCarthy (Simmons College), Zachary Parrella (Northeastern University), Hongxuan (“Penny”) Song (Syracuse University), Zheming (“Michael”) Sun (Boston University) and Yuhong (“Dante”) Zhuo (University of California San Diego).  Of this year’s AP Scholar Award recipients, three are juniors: Max Choate '14, Anthony Diana '14 and James Schofield '14.

Two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Chenxin (“Jack”) Xu, class of 2013 (Case Western Reserve University) and Qing (“Ivy”) Chang, class of 2014.

Seven 2013 graduates qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Julia Argy (Harvard University), Jonathan Benoit (Bentley University), Mark Blanco (Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute), Xinran (“Cherie”) Long (Lehigh University), Benjamin Taylor (Tufts University), and Rebecca van Sciver (University of Pennsylvania). From the class of 2014, two CCA students have already received the AP Scholar with distinction designation based on exams taken in their sophomore and junior year: Eric Kau and Yusheng (“Philip”) Zhao.
Juniors have one more year in which to complete college-level work and possibly earn a higher-level AP Scholar Award."

Congratulations to our students on a job well-done!
