Throughout the science curriculum, we seek to foster an appreciation and understanding of natural world, with specific focus on Cape Cod’s unique ecosystem. Students complement traditional laboratory skills with 21st century tools to ask and answer questions using the scientific method. Working collaboratively, students will design and conduct experiments based on their questions to become effective problem solvers who base their conclusions on evidence and communicate them clearly.
Middle school science classes focus on the development of the foundational skills necessary for success in science. This process includes the discovery of “how to” study detailed scientific concepts and an introduction to formal scientific writing. Laboratory investigations are used to introduce and reinforce concepts learned in the classroom. Active and collaborative learning is emphasized as classes explore the local environment.
