The goal of the World Language classes is to cultivate and nurture enthusiasm and curiosity for the target language and cultures with the purpose of increasing and expanding opportunities for future language studies. We prepare our students to be multilingual global citizens as communication is the focus of each class. Level I courses introduce basic fundamental skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing through games, songs, simple conversations and more. Intermediate courses expand the scope and depth of these skills, requiring the use of more complicated structures and a larger vocabulary. Classwork goes beyond the textbook and involves film, literature and current events. Upper level courses introduce a variety of topics often chosen by the students themselves. Daily conversations, formal debates and major projects cover a wide variety of cultural topics.
