Open Parent & Community Meeting

Davis Commons
Robert C. Pemberton
Dear Members of the Cape Cod Academy Community,

As most of you know, Cape Cod Academy is embarking on a search for a new head of school. Our interim head, Chad Small, completes his two-year term next spring after leading CCA with distinction, kindness, and accomplishment.

This past spring, CCA’s Board of Trustees appointed a Search Committee to guide and oversee the search process. We are honored to introduce the committee members (all current trustees) to you:

Charlotte Canzano P’13,’16
Charlene Holland P’05,’10
Robert C. Pemberton '82 P’14,’16,’19
Kimberly Straubing P’24
Margaret Van Sciver P’09,’10,’13,’18

One of the first orders of business was to identify a search firm to help guide our search process. We are pleased to announce that we hired Independent Thinking (IT), located in Newton, MA. We look forward to working closely with the firm’s founders, Jane Armstrong and Bill Lyons, who have a breadth of perspectives and experience. Before starting IndependentThinking, Jane and Bill enjoyed successful careers as independent school educators and administrators, so they appreciate the importance of finding a cultural fit in our next leader.

Jane and Bill plan to be on our campus on Tuesday, September 17 and Wednesday, September 18 in an effort to meet and interview administrators, students, alumnae, parents, faculty, and staff. We are setting up specific time periods for talking with different groups and will share this schedule with you next week. We do know that Jane and Bill plan to have an Open Parent & Community Meeting on Tuesday evening, September 17 at 6:30 p.m., and they plan to speak with parents during the Parents Association Meeting on September 18 at 8:00 a.m. in the Science Lecture Hall, so please save those dates. They will seek your input, discuss the search process, and answer questions.

Thank you for your ongoing support, guidance, and encouragement as we work to choose an outstanding new leader for Cape Cod Academy.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Pemberton '82 P’14,’16,’19
