Band & Strings

All students in grades 4 and 5 are given the opportunity to participate in either the band or strings program at CCA. All students play in an ensemble. They can choose to be in the band or string ensemble. Once they choose an instrument, they learn how to read music and learn the fundamentals of playing an instrument. They enjoy practicing in a group once a week and perform for the student body in a holiday concert in December and again in a spring concert.

The band and strings program is optional for Middle School and Upper School students. Those that choose to be a part of this music program perform high-quality, challenging repertoire from a variety of genres. They participate in two rehearsals a week and also have the option of taking additional music lessons. Ensemble performances take place during various school events, including winter and spring concerts, grandparents’ day and pep rallies. Additionally, CCA music faculty encourage the students to participate in larger, district ensembles.

The school has a black box theatre, which is a small, collaborative stage setting for not only formal drama productions but also music recitals, class projects, improvisational performances, poetry readings and coffee houses. This is an accessible and intimate setting where student ideas, talent, and initiative can flourish, a place where community grows from the generous acts of people performing for others - and from the shared experiences of being inspired by student growth and expression.
Cape Cod Academy is one of the only independent, co-educational, college preparatory schools serving students from kindergarten to grade 12 on Cape Cod.
