Middle School

Academic Program

Middle School students begin to take charge of their academic path.

Students across all grade levels, from elementary school through high school, have the opportunity inside and outside of the classroom to participate in our robust performing and visual arts programs. We are pleased to have the very best faculty who not only teach their area of expertise but perform and create in our communities across Cape Cod.

Expert faculty guide students in not just mastering techniques but also in understanding the cultural and historical contexts of the arts. Whether your child is an aspiring musician, actor, or visual artist, they will find a nurturing environment designed to build confidence and creativity.

From the moment your child joins us, they will have ample opportunities to explore and showcase their talent. Our well-equipped black box theater, choral groups, band and strings programs, and a wide variety of art classes ensure creative development. We offer advanced courses in photography, portfolio art, ceramics, and more.

PERFORMING ARTS
Performing Arts at Cape Cod Academy emphasizes the development of performance skills, confidence and self-awareness in a safe, encouraging and positive learning environment.

VISUAL ARTS
Visual Arts classes are an integral part of the student’s daily life at Cape Cod Academy. The tenets of the program emphasize development of awareness, sensitivity to, and understanding of the visual environment. Cultivation of vocabulary within the vernacular, connection to the art history continuum and development of manual skills are combined to support a self-expressive independent and visually acute person. Students with diverse and individual learning styles gain confidence and self-reliance through direct contact with materials and processes that challenge and deepen their sense of self.

  • Learning Support

Faculty are available to our middle school students for academic and learning support. They can provide extra help to their students during and after the school day. Parents are encouraged to contact Amy Powers, Learning Specialist, directly (apowers@capecodacademy.org) if concerned about your child or seek extra help.

For additional and specialized individual support, you can speak with Mrs. Powers to learn about CCA's specialized learning support programs. Tutors are available on campus to provide private tutoring during or after school at a mutually agreed upon time.
  • Seminars

Seminars are offered during each trimester and provide an opportunity for students to expand their learning beyond the daily class curriculum. Seminars offer additional academic enrichment and variety in learning where students choose their interests or paths.
Cape Cod Academy is one of the only independent, co-educational, college preparatory schools serving students from kindergarten to grade 12 on Cape Cod.
