CCA Receives Re-accreditation by NEASC

Cape Cod Academy received notice of its full reaccreditation by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, Inc. (NEASC), following a review of CCA’s self-study report and a visit from a team of educators who analyzed CCA’s effectiveness as a teaching and learning institution. This is an important accomplishment since NEASC Accreditation attests to a school’s high quality and integrity.

CCA faculty and staff spent the last year and a half working on a self-study, which involved taking an in-depth look at who we are, how we do it, and how we can improve. Results were compiled into a thorough and thoughtful 150-page report. In April, a NEASC reaccreditation Visiting Committee made up of eight professionals from various independent schools spent three days on campus reviewing the self-study report, and meeting with committees, faculty, staff, board members, and parents to learn about CCA.

The Visiting Committee applauded the work of the faculty and staff in the core teaching and learning engagements taking place at Cape Cod Academy. Three areas, in particular, warranted Major Commendation: the faculty, school programs, and the mission of the school. The Visiting Committee commended CCA on fostering a strong community in which its faculty always places the students first. It was clear to the Visiting Committee that the faculty and staff have created a caring and empathic community at CCA, one that is forever student-centered. It was noted that the school offers an impressive range of academic learning experiences for its student body. The Visiting Committee also commended CCA for revising, discussing, and implementing a new mission statement that reflects the changing landscape of current independent school education and CCA's place herein.

Every 10 years, independent schools like CCA undertake a constructive self-study as part of a process to maintain accreditation with NEASC, an organization that establishes and maintains high standards for all levels of education. NEASC is the nation’s oldest regional accrediting association whose mission is the establishment and maintenance of high standards for all levels of education, from pre-K to the doctoral level. NEASC serves more than two thousand public and independent schools, colleges, and universities in the six states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont and American/international schools in more than sixty-seven nations.
