First Day of School Details for Middle and Upper School Students

Dear Families,

Next week begins a new school year at Cape Cod Academy. Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 will be remote learning days for middle and upper school students as we bring lower school students to campus for “in-person” learning. You can view the opening week schedule here: MS_US Opening Week Schedule 2020.pdf.

Students in grades 6-12 will begin their remote learning with middle and upper school division meetings from 7:55 - 8:10 a.m. both days. When the division meetings conclude, middle and upper school students will follow the Tuesday and Wednesday remote schedule where they will meet their teachers online (using either the Google Meet or Zoom link for individual classes) to prepare for returning to campus on Thursday and Friday. Middle and upper school students will have divisional meetings using the same morning link from 12:20-12:35 p.m. to conclude the remote days. In preparation, all students should:
·  Login in to the CCA website to become familiar with the school webpage.
Once logged in and on the landing page, look to the top of the page for the MY DAY, CLASSES, GROUPS, RESOURCES tabs. Click on classes and visit each class page. Explore the pages, and be sure to locate the posted Google Meet and Zoom links. It has been a few months since most of us have logged into virtual classrooms, so please take time during the weekend to access the school webpage, schedules, and individual class pages.

·  Be patient and calm. Some students may experience issues with technology as there are many new usernames, login and Gmail accounts, new equipment that has been recently setup, and new system upgrades. If you experience an issue, middle school families can reach out to Mrs. Boyle at nboyle@capecodacademy.org and upper school families can reach out to Mr. Kenney at pkenney@capecodacdemy.org. We will respond as quickly as possible and work to address any issues.

·  Middle School Zoom Meeting for Tuesday (Sept. 8) and Wednesday (Sept. 9)
7:55 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. /  Details on Internal Website

·  Upper School Zom Meeting for Tuesday (Sept. 8) and Wednesday (Sept. 9)
7:55 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. / Details on Internal Website

We look forward to welcoming all our 6th- to 12th-grade students back to campus on Thursday, September 10. On Thursday, our middle and upper school students should begin arriving at 7:40 a.m. Parents, please make sure you complete the SNAP health check by 7:15 a.m. each day prior to your child’s arrival to school. Pick up for students in grades 9-12 is 2:55 p.m. Pick up for students in grades 6-8 is at 3:05 p.m. Remember that for the first weeks of school, there will not be after-school activities, and all students are expected to leave campus at the end of the school day. Please review the arrival and dismissal procedures prior to your child’s first day on campus: Arrival and Dismissal Procedures.pdf.

I am also including CCA's COVID Reaction Protocols.pdf. Please take the time to review this prior to next week. Again, we encourage all students and families to limit interactions between people outside of the Cape Cod Academy community, and we expect all students and families to adhere to Massachusetts travel restrictions.

Have a wonderful final weekend of summer. We all look forward to seeing you next week!
Sincerely,

Lisa Kowaleski P'24, P'25,
Associate Head of School
