The Arts & Crafts Camp Program provides a unique opportunity for kids to grow, explore, imagine, and expand their love of arts and crafts. Drop-offs begin between 8:45 and 9:00 am. each day. Enjoying weekly themes, students will have multiple opportunities to explore hands-on projects that allow for experimentation with a variety of concepts, techniques, and supplies. Students will spend time together in the large art room or outside in the outdoor studio. There will be time for outdoor play each day.
Week One - July 5-8, 2022
Arts and Nature. During this week, campers will explore Cape Cod Academy’s 46-acre campus, looking for natural objects to incorporate into many creative art projects. They will integrate their findings into leaf printing, embellishing stones, animal sculptures, clay impressions, observational drawings, sun prints, organic three-dimensional pictures, nature dioramas, and landscape painting. They will also plant beautiful flowers to enjoy all summer.
Week Two - July 11-14, 2022
Fun with Clay. This session will be filled with fun projects that teach students how to create art using the three hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab-building. Students will create many projects, both suggested and self-chosen. This camp is a great way for campers to be introduced to one of the oldest crafts in the world and understand the multiple steps it takes to finish a clay masterpiece. This upbeat and hands-on camp is great for all students-- beginners and advanced craftsmen.
Week Three - July 18-21, 2022
Paper as an Artistic Medium. During this session, students will sculpt with paper, stich on paper, make paper, and carve and build with paper. They will make books, rolled beads, cards, prints, mobiles, and so much more. This camp has so much to offer for all levels of creators.
