Marine Science Students Conduct Research on the Water

Juniors and seniors in Ms. Woods’ marine science class were able to get some boat sampling time in this week aboard the F/V Islander with Rob Reynolds from the Zephyr Foundation. Students investigated various oceanographic sampling techniques, including ropeless lobster trap technology using an acoustic sounder and sampling benthic invertebrates. They also toured the WHOI research dock where they saw Alvin, the first US submersible. They concluded their day with a visit to the Woods Hole Aquarium.
