Lower School

Overview

It's never too early to give them the best start.

Cape Cod Academy is a place where your child will learn and grow. It is also an environment in which your child will develop confidence that he or she can make a difference in the world. The Lower School is designed to develop a lifelong curiosity and excitement for learning new things.

Our programs are shaped by a collaborative team of faculty. Our trained and experienced classroom teachers and specialists are supported and coordinated by a full-time dean, school counselor, and learning specialist for enrichment and support.

The journey of discovery is fostered by these programs in conjunction with the meaningful relationships students develop with their teachers. With the help of caring and committed teachers, Cape Cod Academy students discover how much they can do...for themselves, for others and for the world around them.

Meeting each learner where he or she is and following the path alongside the student fosters individual growth and builds confidence that will last a lifetime. Helping students to connect, collaborate, and solve problems independently builds character and resilience as a foundation for the future. Concrete and reasonable expectations allow students a safe platform from which to dive into subject matter or learn a skill that may stretch their abilities but will leave them feeling a sense of accomplishment with an appetite for more. Inquiry-based learning encourages students to ask “why” and “how”, more than “what,” “who,” or “when". As teachers, we may not have all the answers but, every day, we teach our students the skills they need to find them.

Bright and sunny classrooms, dedicated science, world language, and art rooms, as well as a Lower School Music Pavilion provide rich environments that highlight the beauty of learning. Our small community provides opportunities for hands-on and project-based learning that reaches students on deeper, more meaningful levels. Students feel “seen,” feel “known,” feel like their presence in the community matters.  A CCA Lower School student is confident, happy, resilient, and capable.

Our #1 priority is that she love learning and be confident with adults and teachers; everything else will follow from that foundation and CCA is doing exactly that..."
