Middle School Traditions

Traditions cultivate a sense of belonging within our Middle School.

List of 6 items.

  • Blue Team/White Team

At the start of each school year, CCA students are randomly assigned to Team White or Team Blue - across all school divisions. The goal is that each team will be comprised of students in K-12, actively working as a 'team' throughout the year, earning points through various activites. This all culminates in Field Day where Lower, Middle and Upper School students participate in their division-level activities to determine whether Team Blue or Team White will prevail!
  • Coffee House

Several times a year, the CCA Human Rights Club organizes a Coffee House - an evening on the stage in our Lower School gym where students can perform in front of their peers. You might see singers, dancers, spoken word, yo-yoing...whatever the student wishes to perform is welcomed. At the start of the year the Club determines what local charities they will donate each performance's attendee donations. Our Coffee Houses have a long tradition in our CCA community and our broader Cape Cod community, as well.
  • Middle School Dances

Our Middle School student council members - with input from their peers - organize dances each year. The dances are held on campus and are supervised by faculty chaperones. Middle school dances are important social activities for our students in grades 6-8.
  • Middle School Open Gym Nights

A few times each year, the Upper School gym is open on Friday nights for our Middle School students to gather. Formal games are welcomed - and students are invited to also bring their own games, too. Chaperoned by parents and faculty, open gym night is another social opportunity we create on campus for our students to participate in.
  • Midsummer Night's Dream

An annual performance of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream is tradition in the 6th grade. All students are cast in the play and they rehearse for weeks in advance of the performances. The performances take place on the stage in our Lower School gym.
  • Spirit Week

Spirit Week is organized by the Middle School student council. The students invite feedback from their peers on what spirit activities in which they would like to participate. It's a fun way for our 6th - 8th grade students to bond as a Middle School and have some fun, too.
Cape Cod Academy is one of the only independent, co-educational, college preparatory schools serving students from kindergarten to grade 12 on Cape Cod.
